Becka Shaktman, (she/they), embodies a dynamic presence as a second-year graduate Art Therapy Intern. With a rich background in fostering healing and self-expression, Becka has cultivated invaluable experience working with children and teens at Nassau University Medical Center's Acute Child and Adolescent Psychiatric unit. Here, Becka adeptly facilitated art therapy groups, and individual art therapy sessions, specializing in guiding young individuals grappling with the complexities of anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Moreover, Becka's artistic prowess extends beyond therapeutic practice, with notable contributions featured in the esteemed textbook, "Drawn to Type." Dedicated to professional growth and community engagement, Becka is an active member of both the American Art Therapy Association and the New York Art Therapy Association, where she collaborates with fellow practitioners to advance the discipline's standards and efficacy.

Becka's academic journey underscores her unwavering dedication to the arts and healing. Armed with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Syracuse University, Becka is poised to culminate her educational trajectory with the forthcoming completion of her Master of Arts in Creative Arts Therapy from Hofstra University in the autumn of 2024.
