Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).

What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is a type of psychotherapy involving creative self expression through various art making materials. Art Therapy acts as a bridge between the conscious and unconscious mind, revealing underlying emotions and conflicts that contribute to depression.

Engaging in the creative process, with a trained Art Therapist, can help individuals increase confidence, connection and joy.

Through guided art making, and talk therapy, individuals can gain insight into their depression, work towards resolving underlying stressors.

Our Art Therapists offer depression treatment for children, teens and adults.

Our team of licensed and nationally board-certified Art Therapists work with children, teens and young adults.

We have a special focus on working with college students, women, and those who identify as BIPOC, AAPI and LGBTQ+ community members.

You do not need to be “artistic” or “creative” to benefit from our approach. We are trained in Art Therapy and evidence-based traditional therapies.

Depression symptoms that we address:

  • Feelings of persistent worthlessness, guilt, sadness, and emptiness

  • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities

  • Feeling fatigued, indecisive, and unmotivated

  • Restlessness, irritability, trouble sleeping and feeling alone or isolated

What does therapy look like when working with us?

We’ll help you unravel the root of depression. Whether you choose online teletherapy or in-person therapy, we will address unhelpful thought patterns, sensations of depression in the body, and examine behaviors and ways of relating that inhibit joy.

You don’t need to “make art” in every session. However, we frequently offer the option of therapeutic art making as another tool to help you.

In some sessions, you may only want to talk, and that’s okay! We are trained in ‘talk’ therapy methods, too!
