Welcome, I’m Emily Davenport.
She/Her/Hers

I provide holistic psychotherapy for teens and adults as well as supervision for therapists, and training for institutions.

I hold expertise in treating teens, LGBTQ+ folks and parents who struggle with anxiety, complex trauma, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and self-sabotaging behaviors.

My approach integrates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Art Therapy to foster well-being.

With over 15-years of clinical experience, I’ve worked in a variety of treatment settings, including inpatient psychiatric units, day treatment centers, outpatient mental health clinics, and private practice settings. During my tenure as a group practice owner, I supervised and mentored a team of eight therapists.

Prior to founding Davenport Creative Arts Therapy, I held positions at Bronx Psychiatric Center, New York City Children’s Center, New Hope Mental Health Counseling Center and The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorder Treatment. I was nominated as an internal Dialectical Behavior Therapy clinical trainer for the state of New York, office of mental health, where I received 300 hours of intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

My approach to therapy is informed by my extensive experience in evidence-based treatments with a focus on highlighting my clients strengths, creativity, and innate resilience.

Over the past decade, I’ve served as a consultant for corporate wellness clients, including; Netflix, Nespresso, Americorps, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the Giorgio Armani Corporation. As a member of New York University's Art Therapy Department advisory committee, I help inform best clinical practices for Art Therapists in training. I’ve been featured in media outlets such as; Forbes, Insider Weekly, Bustle, Buffalo News, and Mind Body Radio where I advocate for the power of Art Therapy. My upcoming book about teen anxiety is slated for release in April of 2025.

I hold a Master’s degree in Art Therapy from New York University and a Bachelor's in Communication Design from Pratt Institute. I completed my clinical internship training at Four Winds Hospital and The Jewish Board for Family and Children’s Services. My Masters thesis examined the intersection of Art Therapy and Mindfulness through an attachment lens.

Among my accomplishments, my proudest role is mothering three children in Eastchester, NY.
